Schunk released a new gripper specifically designed to pick up round cell batteries in the electric vehicle market. They are compact at only 46mm in diameter. The RCG is characterized by minimal interference contours and, depending on the application, is scalable and available in various designs. In combination with a cell spacing unit with Z-compensation, the cells can be picked up in a defined manner and set down again with newly determined cell spacing. The dynamic and heavy-duty SLD axis ensures short cycle times and high positioning accuracy. By using industry-relevant encoder interfaces, the axis can be integrated into the software environment of different controller manufacturers.
